Carson Palmer vs Andrew Luck
Winner: Carson Palmer
Luck has gotten off to a disastrous start throwing 5 interceptions while only finding the end zone 3 times. He also gets matched up with a Titans defense that is only allowing 191 yards per game through the air and has racked up 6 sacks. The only glaring weakness for the Titans has been defending the deep pass, as evidenced by Johnny Football connecting for two 50+ yard TD's. However it may be difficult for the Colts to get the ball downfield as the offensive line has allowed a league high 54 QB hits and top deep threat T.Y. Hilton has been slowed by a nagging knee injury. Palmer on the other hand is tied for the league lead with 7 TD's and has only thrown 1 interception. He also gets a much more favorable matchup with a 49er's defense that has allowed a 74.6% completion rate and a league worst 10.2 yards per pass attempt. Palmer has also enjoyed great protection as the offensive line has only allowed 7 QB hits and 0 sacks.
Jamaal Charles vs Le'Veon Bell
Winner: Jamaal Charles
Fantasy players are rightfully excited to get Le'Veon Bell back in their lineups following his 2 game suspension, but we think Charles is the better play this week. Charles has a great matchup with a Packers defense that allows 5.3 yards per carry and has given up 308 yards so far on the ground. Charles is also an integral part of the Chiefs passing attack, so he'll be heavily involved even if they fall behind. Charles was only owned in 9% of SideLeage lineups in week 2, so you may be able to set yourself apart with this pick. Bell is also facing an opponent that has been susceptible to the run in 2015, but this Rams defense is simply too talented for it to continue. We're also not counting out DeAngelo Williams continuing to get some touches, as he's been very effective in Bell's absence.
Odell Beckham Jr. vs Julian Edelman
Winner: Julian Edelman
Odell Beckham Jr. is without question the superior athlete, but for fantasy purposes we like Edelman in week 3. Edelman's 31 targets are tops in the NFL and he's tied with Julio Jones for the lead in receptions with 22. In PPR leagues these targets and receptions become especially valuable. Despite these numbers opposing defenses aren't gameplanning for Edelman because they have an even bigger problem in Rob Gronkowski. Edelman was only owned in 24% of SideLeague lineups in week 2, so there's still value in what seems like an obvious choice. In a great matchup with the Jaguars, look for Edelman to have another big day. Beckham broke out last week after a subpar opener, but gets a more difficult matchup in week 3. The Redskins have been stingy thus far allowing only 188 yards per game receiving. We'd also expect Beckham to see plenty of double coverage considering no other Giant has more than 50 yards receiving on the year.
