Gio Gonzalez - We wrote about Gio yesterday and since they were rained out we're going to stick with him today. Gonzalez has been on an absolute tear since the start of September. In 3 starts Gonzalez has gone 18⅓ IP while only allowing 3 ER and striking out 26. He also gets a matchup with a Baltimore offense who ranks near the bottom of the league with a 23.2% K-rate vs LHP.
Jake Arrieta - He'll be the most expensive player on the board, but Arrieta has the numbers to justify it. He has now thrown a quality start in 16 straight games and has only allowed 4 ER in his last 45 IP while striking out 46. Arrieta also gets a favorable matchup with a Brewers squad that has lost 11 of their last 13 and will likely be without slugger Ryan Braun.
Evan Gattis - Gattis won't provide you with great on base skills, but his .213 ISO shows his tremendous power potential. He also gets a matchup with Hector Santiago who is definitely homer-prone as evidenced by his 1.36 HR/9.
Xander Bogaerts - Bogaerts is always a great start vs LHP as he's batting .381 with a .911 OPS vs lefties. Matt Moore looked very good in his last outing, but has largely struggled greatly in his return from Tommy John. We'll need to see a few more good outings before we'll be scared off by Moore.
Brian Dozier - Your BvP Play of the Day: Dozier is 8/15 with 5 extra-base hits, including 2 HR's, vs Danny Salazar in his career.
Andrew McCutchen - An obvious name but we love him at Coors today. McCutchen has killed LHP this year hitting .349 with a .978 OPS and gets a great matchup with Chris Rusin. Rusin's 5.11 ERA and 1.56 WHIP tell the story of pitcher who's not long for this league.
